Bryggmannsholmen

Bryggmannsholmen, an islet on the east side of the village of Henningsvær, has historically been in use by generations of fishermen, Frederiksen’s sons. Over the years the site has been developed with a number of different constructions, of varying qualities, to respond to the industry needs. Ever since its intended activity stopped, the site has been left to deteriorate for decades.

Through an adaptive reuse and conversion of the site, the ambition of the Bryggmannsholmens project is to offer a holistic and authentic ecotourism experience.

While caring for and transforming the existing buildings, some new constructions will be added according to the historical traces of the fishing industry, recreating a vernacular architecture and reusing local materials. The new hotel and wellness resort will offer a qualitative and luxurious experience, in connection to the extraordinary nature and its context.
